Posted on 23 December, 2021

So, you’ve experienced the Snowy Mountains in the colder months, and it was a winter wonderland. But have you considered immersing yourself in Jindabyne’s secret summer events?

Staying at the Alpine Activity Centre gives you the opportunity to simply stroll around central Jindabyne and discover the many summer adventures the Snowy Mountains have to offer.

Here are the best summer events to attend in the new year:

Jindabyne’s Man from Snowy River

Man from Snowy River Show - Man riding horse

Jindabyne’s Man from Snowy River Rodeo is a truly Iconic Snowy Mountains Event, which has been running in the area since 1943.

The action includes open and novice bulls, saddle bronc, bareback horses, ladies barrel races, junior steer rides, and junior barrel races.

Whatever your age, it’s always a great day out for the whole family with not only all the thrills and spills of the Rodeo but also sideshows, food stalls, barbecues, and a bar.

Don’t miss out, it’s on 28 December 2021!

Thredbo Blues Festival

Thredo Blues Festival

Get ready to shake up the Snowy Mountains! The iconic Thredbo Blues Festival is bursting with talent with another amazing program of exceptional blues artists sending out tunes over the Snowies in a music festival like no other.

Stay at Alpine Activity Centre and enjoy 3 huge days filled with the best of the blues, good food, wine, and awesome times, without having to drive all the way home again!

Get your tickets quick, the festival is from 28 – 30 January 2022.

The Honda Snowy Ride

The Honda Snowy Ride - Three kids smiling in yellow vests

The Snowy Ride is a motorcycle event run annually since 2001 and has helped the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation (SWCCF) raise $8 million for research into a cure for childhood cancer.

Do your part while having fun on 2 April 2022 and help raise money for research into childhood cancer. This will also give the local volunteer organisations of the Snowy mountains area the chance to raise money for their own communities!

Dalgety Show Society

Visit a Dalgety Show while staying at Alpine Activity Centre during the warmer seasons. There are flowers, vegetables, cakes, condiments, knitting, arts and crafts, homebrew, and more to pick up while watching the horse and dog shows.

Country shows, with the sounds and smells, the sideshows, and sections, are a part of Australian history. And so is the town of Dalgety.

Why not come and experience it!

Lake Light Sculpture

Lake Light Sculpture is an outdoor sculpture exhibition and competition held along the stunning foreshore of Lake Jindabyne.

Alpine Activity Centre gives you the comfort of a short drive to Lake Jindabyne to see the sculptures displayed in an evocative setting with reflections of the Snowy Mountains on the lake, providing a living studio for the artworks.

This means you won’t miss viewing the sculptures lit from sunset to 10 pm each evening. Artists embed lighting, reflection, and optical tricks into their sculptures to play on the light of the full moon.
