The centre is walking distance from the lakeshore and shopping and dining options, and a short drive away from backcountry activities in Kosciuszko National Park.
Our comfortable, self-contained cottages and dormitory-style accommodation cater for anywhere between one and 124 people. Modern facilities and spacious common areas feature throughout the centre to provide a perfect base for you to relax after a day of adventure and activity.
We offer a range of accommodation configurations, allowing groups of all shapes and sizes the opportunity to escape the rat race and find some peace, while embracing all the Snowy Mountains has to offer.
Whether you are a school or Scout group wanting to take advantage of the educational activities in the region, a cycling or mountain biking group keen to explore the National Park's hundreds of cycling paths and biking trails, an art group looking for a quiet place to practice your art, a church or community group looking for a venue for your retreat, or a family or social group out to enjoy a well-deserved holiday or weekend break, the Alpine Activity Centre is the place for you.
Our friendly and experienced staff are happy to give you the information you need to make the most out of your trip to the Snowies. As locals, our staff know what’s on offer, and where the best deals can be found. Whatever you choose, we're sure the Alpine Activity Centre will be the perfect base for a trip to remember!
The Alpine Activity Centre was opened in June 1981, funded by avid adventurer and Scout, Tony Balthazar. Tony inspired many young people throughout his life. He is remembered for his thirst for adventure, knowledge of film documentaries and radio operations, and, of course, his love of alpine activities! His legacy also lives on as the name of one of our cottages.
